Living in Babylon

Living in Babylon

THE JAREDITES - BOOK ONE
Brothers Jared and Mahonri live with family and friends in Hemel, a village 6 miles north of Babel.  Mahonri, called by God to be his prophet, has limited success calling people to repent of idol worship and immorality. Living in Babylon, takes you there when King Nimrod’s tower is being built.  He is almost persuaded to become a follower of the Messiah by the testimony of a son of Jared; like Paul before Jerod  Agrippa.   And like Pilate, who wanted to release an innocent man, but  caved under pressure, King Nimrod felt he needed the supporting voices of the Esaglian priests more than the still small voice. The events in his novel are primarily seen through  the eyes of the young men and women who are the children of Mahonri and Jared as they fall in love during times of peril and adventure. They show us how good people become bad and bad people become good—and how good people become even better.

Escape from Nineveh

THE JAREDITES - BOOK TWO
A colony of ten families, who worship the Living God, find it necessary to leave Nineveh thirty months after arriving from Babel.  At that time, except for the Far East, language becomes phonetic and written differently in  major cities. The language revolution was a major factor in the scattering of people away from wicked cities like Babel.  Babel, and its soon to be destroyed tower, would no longer be a hub of civilization.  The prophet Mahonri, is directed by
the Lord to lead them to a Land of Promise.  To foil the prophet, King Narim-Sin kidnaps his daughter and orders his guards to take her back to King Nimrod; to be sacrificed to the pagan god, Ba-El.  Young men and women, in the colony, fall in love during times of peril and adventure. The first leg of their journey is across  the Mediterranean Sea to uninhabited Spain; where man had never been. They live by Gibraltar for four years before constructing unique boats in which they cross the world oceans to their Land of Promise.

Land of Promise

THE JAREDITES - BOOK THREE
Begins with the arrival of the Jaredites in the Land of Promise and witnesses the rise and fall of a great civilization.  It does not end with the death of the original colony. We will follow them into heaven and observe the opportunities given to enlarge their experiences and understanding of human nature. In the story, messages from God are adapted from various scriptures in similar situations. The righteous Jaredites, who die, continue to serve God in heaven where they watch the unfolding of history through the meridian of time, the times
of the gentiles
, the fullness of the times of the gentiles, Armageddon, Gathering of Israel, the Millennium, the battle of Gog and Magog and inheritance in a kingdom of glory. The author is solely responsible for the dialogue.

Women of the Bible

Picture
Women of the Bible
As we learn about these women, though their lives  seem
extra-ordinary, we can identify with some of their feelings and
challenges: the desire for children; feeling loved; feeling not loved; jealousy; envy; loneliness; the roles of custom and traditions.
In studying the lives of women in the Bible, it becomes apparent that the Savior is telling us that women have an important and integral role in God’s eternal plan.  He made them part of his experience, and through women, gave important messages about his mission and who he was.
Each woman is introduced with a short poem, which is also used as part of a name matching challenge at the end.* This may be reproduced for groups or classes. There are questions at the end of each woman’s biography that may
be of interest as well as a name search challenge..
*Example:  Naomi entreated.  Boaz greeted.  By him tarried.  They got married. (Who is this?)
